Overview
The Service Management Exchange integration application connects Microsoft Exchange and Service Management to correlate calendar data between the two. The application uses delegate access for users who have been given permission to access another user's calendar data. The application performs these actions to synchronize the data:
- Creates, reads, updates, and deletes calendar data from Exchange for users who have permission to access the calendar.
- Creates, reads, updates, and deletes user calendar and Service calendar data from Service Management for users who are set up for the Exchange integration.
Users are maintained on the Calendar Sync Users form in Service Management.
You must run the Sync Process Background Task at all times to perform synchronization. This background task frequently checks the Exchange server and Service Management for updates, then synchronizes the changes. You can monitor the Sync Process Background Task using the Sync Process UI.
After configuring the application, you can run the Sync Process Background Task by using the Sync Process UI or the Window Services. See Initiating the synchronization process with the Sync Process UI and Initiating the synchronization process with Window Services for more information. After you have successfully launched the Sync Process UI executable and corrected any issues, you can run the Sync Process Background Task executable directly.
