Importing portal components

You can import component files as long as a portal is open for development.

  1. In the Portal Manager, select Content Development > Import Components.
  2. Specify the folder from which to import. This is the root folder to which components were previously exported.

If the content version from which you select to import components does not match the current editable content version, you are given the options to overwrite the current version, to continue without changing the content version file, or to cancel.

  3. If you choose to overwrite or continue, select the check box next to each type of component to import. You can expand the folders to select individual components.
  4. Optionally, to clear existing content before importing, you can select Clear all existing content before import. This clears all content, not just the type or types you have selected to import.
  5. Optionally, to have imported components automatically locked, you can select Lock components after import. This is especially helpful when you are importing multiple components, so you do not have to search for them later to lock them.
  6. Click Import. A summary form is displayed, showing the components you have chosen to import. You have these options:
    • To save the summary information to a file, right-click the form and then select Save to File.
    • To change your selections, click Cancel and make your selections again.
    • To start the process, click Start. Your content is imported into the database. You can see import progress on the progress bar and status in the log display at the bottom of the form. If you need to cancel the process, click Cancel on the progress bar.
