Modifying help topics

If you change any of the existing portal pages, you may need to update the provided online help topics. You can use most HTML editors or Notepad to modify help topics. Do not use Microsoft Word to edit the files.

  1. In the Portal Manager, select Content Development > All Components.
  2. Select the file and click Edit. A copy of the file, with your editable originator, is added.
  3. Click the copied file and drag it to your desktop or another location on your workstation.
  4. Right-click the file and select Open with. Choose your HTML editor or Notepad. Do not open the file with Microsoft Word.
  5. Edit the topic as needed and save your changes. Do not change the file name.
  6. Drag the file back to its collection in the Portal Manager and overwrite the existing file in your editable originator. The file remains locked until you export content.
  7. To review the change, open or refresh your portal website, click the help icon in the upper right corner, and use the links provided to find your updated topic.
