Changing the authenticator data source using the Portal Manager

Note: This topic describes changing from one back office data source to another. It does not explain changing from a back office data source to another type of data source.

To change the authenticator data source for a portal other than the one you are logged in to, in the Portal Manager, select Farm Configuration > Other Portals and then follow the steps in Changing the authenticator data source using the Farm Manager.

To change the authenticator data source for the current portal:

  1. In the Portal Manager, select Portal Configuration > Data Sources.
  2. Select the Authenticator check box for the appropriate data source.
  3. Review the message about permissions and perform one of these steps:
    • To cancel the change, click No.
    • To continue, click Yes. The Edit Permissions form is displayed.
      1. Assign administrator permissions to the appropriate users and/or groups, based on who needs access to the Portal Manager.
      2. Specify whether to keep other permission settings in the Portal Manager or to have them cleared so you can change them.
        • To keep existing settings, click the check box.
        • To have existing settings cleared, leave the check box empty.
      3. On the Edit Permissions form, click OK. Your connection is no longer valid, because the authenticator data source has been changed. You must sign in again with a user who was given permissions in step 3a.
      4. If you did not keep the existing settings, you must complete these tasks:
        1. Initialize the portal pre-login user. Select Portal Configuration > Session Initialization. Click Initialize Pre-Login User. Specify the credentials for the pre-login user as set up in the back office. Click Validate. Click Save.
        2. Reset the component set permissions. Select Portal Configuration > Permissions. One by one, select each component set and click Edit to reset the required users and/or groups. Click Save.
