Requirements for using the email APIs

To use the portal email APIs for sending custom messages from the portal, the tasks listed in this section are required. Setup and configuration tasks are explained in the installation and administration guides for your portal.

  • In the Portal Manager, an MSSQL data source must be specified as the email repository.
  • In the Portal Manager, the email archive and expiration settings must be specified.
  • In the Farm Manager or Portal Manager, the SMTP server settings must be configured. This does not apply to cloud customers.
  • On the back office Portal Parameters form, the Use Portal Email option must be selected.
  • On the back office Users form, portal users must have a primary email address.
  • On the back office Customer Users or Vendor Users form, portal users must have the Send Email Notification option selected.
  • In the Portal Manager, a portal email API must be added to the server script of the desired layout.
