Reviewing demo content

The IPF portals have many useful features that can be reviewed by activating the demo content in any portal. To view this content, you must have access to an installed and configured portal and the Portal Manager.

To view the demo content:

  1. In the Portal Manager for the configured portal, select Portal Configuration > Content Activations.
  2. Click New.
  3. On the New Content Activation form, expand IPF Dev Tools and select the current content version.
  4. In Priority, specify a priority higher than any other content versions in the portal.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Next to the Demo feature, click Active.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Select Portal Configuration > Session Initialization.
  9. Select DemoBlue as the style family.
  10. Optionally, set the default page to IPFDemo_Main.

This step causes the demo pages to open by default when you access the portal. In a production environment, you can skip this step and instead access the portal as described below.

  11. Click Save.
  12. Select Portal Configuration > Permissions.
  13. Click New.
  14. On the New Permission form, select Demo.
  15. Next to the Accounts box, click New.
  16. On the Accounts form, find and select the PortalPreLogin user and click OK.
  17. On the New Permission form, click OK.
  18. Click Save.
  19. Access the portal in one of these ways:
    • If you set the default page in step 10, select Farm Configuration > Other Portals (on-premises) or Environment Configuration > Other Portals (cloud), select the portal, and click Browse Portal.
    • If you did not set the default page in step 10, open a browser window and specify this URL: http://<servername>:<port>/<optional sitename>/IPFDemo_Main.

As long as your Demo content is activated, anyone who goes to this URL will be able to view the Demo content.

  20. After you have finished reviewing the demo content, change the Portal Manager configuration settings back and clear the activation of the Demo feature content under the IPF Dev Tools originator.
