Managing content versions

A content version is a package of portal application code. It includes the pages, layouts, styles and other components used by the portals. New application releases from Infor are delivered as content versions. Also, custom content versions are created when you personalize and customize the Infor portal content.

To manage content versions at the farm level, select Farm Configuration > Content Versions and use the toolbar options. These tasks are performed on the Content Versions tab:

  • Export a content version
  • Import a content version
  • Delete a content version
  • Clear the content version cache
Note: These and other content version tasks can also be performed using the Portal Manager.

Exporting a content version

This action saves the content version for backup or reuse. You can export a content version only if it is closed for development. More information is provided in the portal administration guide.

Importing a content version

You can import an Infor content version whenever we provide an update. Steps are provided in the portal installation guide topic about upgrading.

You can import a custom content version if one has been exported to be saved for backup or reuse. Steps are provided in the portal administration guide.

To import, the content version cannot already exist. To re-import, you must delete the existing content version first.

Deleting a content version

You should delete a custom content version only after it is closed for development.

Clearing the content version cache

If you have made changes to personalize or customize a portal, and the changes are not displayed on the portal after clearing the data source cache, you can select the appropriate content version and clear the content version cache.
