About Unit and Component Dates

The following is an overview of the date fields that exist at both the Unit level and the Component level.

Unit Level Dates

Date Created:

  • Represents the date the unit was originally created and placed into inventory.
  • This field is manually maintained.
  • If updated, the system looks for any components in the configuration that have not been removed, and updates any warranties with a Warranty Start Date Basis of Date Created.

Ship Date:

  • Represents the date the unit was last shipped to a customer.
  • This field is updated automatically as a sale order shipment is posted.
  • If updated, the system looks for any components in the configuration that have not been removed, and updates any warranties with a Warranty Start Date Basis of Ship Date.

Install Date:

  • Represents the date the unit was installed at the customer site.
  • This field is updated automatically as a sales order shipment is posted.
  • If updated, the system looks for any components that have not been removed, and updates the start and end dates on all warranties with a Warranty Start Date Basis of Unit Install Date.

Receive Date:

  • Represents the date the unit was received on a purchase order.
  • This field is updated automatically when a PO line receipt is posted.
  • If updated, the system looks for any components in the configuration that have not been removed, and updates any warranties with a Warranty Start Date Basis of Receive Date.

Purge & Expiration Date:

  • Used for information only.

Component Level Dates

Install Date:

  • Represents the date the component was placed on the unit.
  • This field can be manually maintained or set automatically based on the Auto Build Unit Configuration (Receipt or Shipment)functionality.
  • If updated, the system updates the start and end dates on all warranties that have a Warranty Start Date Basis of Component Install Date.

Remove Date:

  • Represents the date the component was removed from the unit.
  • This field is updated manually.
