About the Log Monitor Policy form

The Log Monitor Policies form is used to specify what filter criteria to use when collecting data for the Log Monitor form or (in an on-premises environment) the Log Monitor stand-alone utility. This form specifies exactly what data is to be collected by the Infor Framework Log Monitor Service.

This means that the Log Monitor (either form or utility) can display only those data that are expressly selected or specified on this form.

Note: To collect Log Monitor data, you must first have the Infor Framework Log Monitor Service running.

Using the Log Monitor Policies form

Once the form is open, you can specify filter criteria according to any combination of Source, Log Types, and/or message Text:

  • Source settings: To allow data to be collected from all sources, leave this field blank.

To limit the display to data from a single source, specify the name of the source; for example: IDORuntime

To allow data to be displayed from multiple sources, specify the sources as a pipe-delimited list; for example: IDORuntime | MGEvent

  • Log Types settings: Select the types you want to collect data for.
  • Text settings: Enter a string for the Log Monitor to search for. This is useful when you are looking for specific error messages in the log.

If you leave these fields blank, the system then collects data according to the specifications in the app.config file.

The Active check box at the top of the form indicates whether the selected filter is currently in active use. To prevent a filter from being used, clear this check box.

Site Coordinators can use the Log Monitor Policies form to add multiple filter policies and override filter policies written in the configuration file. To add multiple filter policies, a site coordinator must use the Log Monitor Policies form in the Site Coordinator Configuration.

Log retention and timer displays

These indicators and options are found at the bottom of the form:

  • Log Retention In Days: 30: This read-only indicator simply informs you that data is retained in the log database for 30 days, after which time it is deleted.
  • Log Until Time: This read-only field indicates the date and time at which the system was last set to automatically stop Log Monitor data collection. To have data collected after that date/time, you must click the associated Refresh Timer at which time the timer is set to 30 minutes from the present time. You cannot advance the timer more than 30 minutes from the present time.
Note: This timer controls remote logging:
    • When this timer expires, the Enable Remote Logging process default is automatically disabled (that is, set to 0).
    • Before setting the Enable Remote Logging process default to 1 (enabled), click this Refresh Timer button.
    • After changing this value, wait 30 seconds before you attempt to retrieve more log data on the Log Monitor form.
  • Send Diagnostics Log Until Time: This timer, initially, is set to the time you opened this form. In other words, by default, the Log Monitor Service does not collect Diagnostics data until you reset this timer. Each time you click the associated Refresh Timer button, the system adds 5 minutes to the amount of time that Diagnostics data is to be collected, up to a total of 30 minutes from the present time. You cannot advance the timer more than 30 minutes from the present time.
Note: This timer controls the collection of Diagnostics data for the Log Monitor stand-alone utility:
    • When this timer expires, the Client Diagnostics send to LogMonitor process default is automatically disabled (that is, set to 0).
    • Before setting the Client Diagnostics send to LogMonitor process default to 1 (enabled), click this Refresh Timer button.
    • After changing this value, wait 30 seconds before you attempt to retrieve more log data on the Log Monitor form.

These timer settings apply to all users on the system.

The application prompts you to save your changes when you close the form.
