Limiting the Explorer View to a Certain Role or Module

This example explains how to customize the Explorer so you can focus on certain forms. If you are a customer service representative, you do not need to see forms for other areas like Manufacturing or Accounts Payable. You want to focus on Customer Service forms.

  1. For this example, make sure that you are at the top level of the Explorer. In the top right corner of the Explorer window, click the down-arrow to display the drop-down list. Select Go to the top folder. If this option is disabled, then you are already at the top level.
  2. Click the Master Explorer button in the Buttons pane of the Explorer. The Tree pane now displays the Master Explorer.
  3. In the tree, select the Roles folder.
  4. Click the down-arrow in the top right corner of the Explorer again to display the drop-down list. Select Drill down the current folder. The Buttons pane now lists user roles.
  5. In the Buttons pane, click the Customer Service button. The tree pane now lists the subfolders relating to customer service.
  6. To save this Explorer view so that it will display the next time you log in to the application, select View > User Preferences. In the User Preferences window, click the Runtime Layout tab and select Remember Explorer Navigation Path.
