Form shortcuts

These keyboard shortcuts are designed to help you at the form level, with actions such as opening and saving forms.

Note: Unless otherwise indicated, the keyboard shortcut is the same in both the web client and the Windows client.
Action Keys Description
Open a form. Ctrl+O Opens the Select Form dialog box, which you can use to locate and select the form you want to open.
Save a form. Ctrl+S Saves any changes, but does not close the form.

Any records that have been modified or marked for deletion are permanently modified or deleted when this shortcut is used.

Get help with the current field. F1 Brings up the online help in a separate tab or window.
  • If the focus is on an active field, this opens the help for the current field.
  • If the focus is not on an active field, this opens the help for the form.
Close a form. Ctrl+F4

OR

Shift+F4 (Web client)

Closes the current form tab in the web client, or the current form window in the Windows client.

If you made changes to any records, or if you marked any records for deletion, then you are prompted whether you want to save the changes before closing the form window.

Toggle Design Mode on/off. Ctrl+E

OR

Ctrl+Shif+E (Web client)

Available only if you have the required editing permissions.

Use this key combination to open the Designer tab for the active form.

Regenerate the form. Ctrl+G Used in the Windows client, in Design Mode only.

In the web client, this option is available only via the Form > Definition or an icon on the toolbar.

Unload all global form objects. Ctrl+U Used in the Windows client, in Design Mode only.

In the web client, this option is available only via the Form > Definition.
