Synchronizing global objects

You can synchronize global objects independently of forms and the Explorer. The settings and specifications for synchronization of global objects are made on the Synchronization Options page, using the Global Objects tab.

Caution:
Before synchronization, make sure you back up the forms database in the Target configuration and confirm your database and server settings.

To synchronize global objects, use this procedure:

  1. Launch FormSync and make the basic settings common to all synchronization operations.
  2. On the Global Objects tab, select either the Keep customizations option or the Remove customizations option.
Depending on the option you choose, FormSync does this:
    Keep customizations
This option instructs FormSync to keep all customizations to any global objects without prompting you for confirmation. All customizations are merged automatically into the new base-level versions.
    Remove customizations
This option allows you to selectively decide which customizations are to be left alone (kept) and which are to be removed from the new base-level versions.
    Prompt before removal
Optionally, to instruct FormSync to prompt you before discarding each customization of a global object, select this option.
  3. Optionally, if you selected the Remove customizations option in the previous step, specify which global object customizations to remove by selecting only those you want to remove.
All global objects are selected by default. To specify only one or a few, clear the Toggle All/None option, and then select only the ones you want to remove.
  4. Make whatever settings you need to make on the Forms tab and the Explorer tab, according to whether or not you want to synchronize those objects as well.
  5. (Stand-alone version only) Click OK.
  6. Click Synchronize.
FormSync processes the forms according to your specifications. If you are using the stand-alone utility, you have the opportunity to roll back the changes; the form version does not offer this option.
