Accepting Customer Payments in the Euro Currency

If your domestic currency is the Euro, or if a customer has converted to the euro, you can accept customer payments in the euro currency.

To accept payments in the Euro:

  1. Set up a bank reconciliation account for the Euro currency on the Bank Reconciliations form. In the Currency field, enter the currency code for the euro that you entered on the Currency Codes form.
    Note: If none of your customers has converted to the euro currency, this step is optional. You use this bank account to accept payments from those customers that use the euro as their domestic currency.
  2. When you are ready to process a customer payment (for example, after you have applied the payment amount to invoices), open the A/R Payments form.
  3. In the Customer field, select the customer ID of the customer that is making the payment.
  4. In the Bank Code field, select the code for the bank into which you are receiving the payment.

    The bank code must use the same currency code as either the customer currency or your domestic currency.

  5. In the Euro Amount field, specify the amount of the payment in the euro currency.

    The system converts the amount to the customer's national currency and to your domestic currency.

    Note: The customer's balance is reduced by the amount in the Customer Amount field. The amount in the Domestic Amount field is received into the specified bank code. The amount in the Euro Amount field is not used; this field simply enables you to enter the euro payment amount to be converted.
  6. Specify any additional data in the remaining fields.
  7. To save the record, select Actions > Save.
