Creating CRM Opportunities for Expiring Warranties

  1. Open the Opportunity Creation Utility.
  2. Select Create Opportunities for Expiring Warranties.
  3. Specify the number of days into the future that the utility should look for expiring warranties.
  4. Optionally, select Evaluate Component Warranties if warranties should be reviewed for components or only for the parent unit.
  5. Optionally, select Consolidate a Customer's Opportunities to place multiple expiring warranties for the same customer under a single opportunity, with an opportunity line for each expiring warranty.
  6. In the Name field, specify the name to use in the Opportunity Name field on the Opportunities form for any opportunities that are created.
  7. Select the range of items, contracts, customers, and units to use to filter which units and/or contracts are evaluated for potential opportunity creation.
  8. In the Lead Source field, select the value to use for any newly created opportunities.
  9. In the Opportunity Stage field, select the value to use for any newly created opportunities.
  10. Optionally, select Preview and click Process to populate the grid with any opportunities that will be created.
  11. Select Commit and click Process. If a warranty that is due to expire within the defined date range is found, then an opportunity is created for the customer associated with the unit. New opportunity lines are created for each unit or component item associated with the warranty.
