Journal Entries

When you run a posting routine, journal entries are created for the effected transactions. Using the Journal Entries form, you can then:

  • Review the journal entries.
  • Update and delete entries in the General journals.
  • Update and delete entries in user-defined journals.

For the Distribution journals, you can only review entries, and not add, update, or delete them. To make changes to Distribution journal entries, you must enter transactions in the originating business module.

These options are available from the Actions menu:

  • Sequence Reset: Changes the sequence numbers for the transactions. You must perform this function when adding a new transaction between two consecutive transactions.
  • Journal Compress: Compresses journal transactions for each account by date. Compressing a journal reduces the number of transactions in the journal, making a journal more manageable and easier to view on the form.
Note:  If you compress the ledger, control numbers will be deleted.
  • Post Journal: Posts journal transactions.
