Managing extended dimensions

The [Tenant]-ISM-Consumer space is provisioned with Custom Subject Areas. Delivered Custom Subject Areas (CSAs) are subject to overwrite during a content update. Because of this, we recommend that you create Client Custom Subject Areas. Best practice is to prefix the name of the Custom Subject Area with a company abbreviation or some other string prefix that quickly identifies this CSA as a Client CSA to any user that is granted access.

  1. In Birst, select the [Tenant]-ISM-Consumer space.
  2. Select Space Management > Subject Area.
  3. Click + to create the new subject area.
  4. Specify the subject area name and description and define group access.
  5. Click the Folder icon to add new folder.
  6. Specify Attributes as the name and click Save.
  7. Select the attribute, right-click and select Edit Properties.
  8. Select Attribute Folder > + to add attributes from the other subject area.
  9. Hover over the column and click Actions to rename the column and add a description about it.
  10. Repeat the steps to create and add measures in the new custom subject area.
