Log Monitor Policies

Use the Log Monitor Policies form to specify what filter criteria to use when collecting data for the Log Monitor form. This form actually specifies what data is to be collected by the Log Monitor Service.

You can launch this form either by clicking the Open Filter Settings button on the Log Monitor form or in the same way as most other forms.

Once the form is open, you can specify filter criteria according to any combination of Source, Type, and/or message Text.

These indicators and options are found at the bottom of the form:

  • Log Retention In Days: 30 - This read-only indicator simply informs you that data is retained in the log database for 30 days, after which time it is deleted.
  • Log Until Time - This read-only field indicates the date and time at which the system is to automatically stop Log Monitor data collection. To have data collected after that date/time, you must click Refresh Timer repeatedly until the date and time displayed is after the current date and time.

After changing this value, wait 30 seconds before you attempt to retrieve more log data on the Log Monitor form.

  • Refresh Timer - When you click this button, the system advances the Log Until Time value by 24 hours. This allows you to display and view more current data.

Site Coordinators can also use the Log Monitor Policies form to add multiple filter policies and override filter policies written in the configuration file. To add multiple filter policies, a site coordinator must use the Log Monitor Policies form in the Site Coordinator Configuration.
