Creating, editing, and using form templates

You can create a template from a form and use it to build other forms of a similar type. Form templates are stored in the templates database and are unaffected by user, group, or site customizations.

Each form template must have a unique name.

Creating a form template

Form templates are normally created during the form creation process when using either the New Form Wizard or the New Data Maintenance Wizard. The last page of each of these tools offers the option to create a form template. Simply select that opition before you click Finish.

You can also create a form template from an existing form, by opening the existing form in Design Mode. Then from the Edit menu, you would select Create Form Template From This Form.

Using a form template

Once the form template has been created, you can use it to create similar forms. You must be in Design Mode, and then start the New Form Wizard. When the New Form Wizard displays the list of Form Templates, select the existing template on which to base the new form.

Editing a Form Template

There are two ways to edit a form template.

  • Create a new template and save it as the one to be changed.
  • Make changes to the IDO properties that are included on a form template.
