Lot Prefix

Enter the default prefix to be used for all lot numbers. This number may be overridden by a setting a default prefix to use for a specific item (set on the Items form).

For example, if you enter UXLOT in the Lot Prefix field, the default lot numbers used at this site will be UXLOT0000000001 and UXLOT0000000002 , etc. (This also assumes the Generate Lot field, which expands lot numbers to the full length of the field, is selected.) If you do not enter a value in the Lot Prefix field, the default lot numbers used at this site will be 1, 2, etc. (if the Generate Lot field is not selected) or &nbsp1, &nbsp2, etc. (if the Generate Lot field is selected).

Note:  If an item does not have a Lot Prefix set, the lot number will be expanded using blank spaces; the lot number is expanded to the full length of the field, but it will not appear to be expanded. If the item DOES have a Lot Prefix, the lot number will be expanded using zeros.

A prefix can consist of numeric and non-numeric (letters and symbols) characters. However, the prefix should end with an alphabetic character to ensure that the system increments lot numbers correctly.

When you have reached the 15-character field limit, the system prompts you with a warning message that you have reached your character limit. You will need to start a new prefix sequence. Using the above example, after you have entered UXLOT999999999, you will need to begin a new lot number prefix.

Once a prefix is added, this prefix will not affect any existing lot numbers.

When entering specific lot numbers in the system, you may overwrite this prefix.
