Generating Data for the Material Planner Workbench

  1. On the Material Planner Workbench Generation form, specify this information:
    Delete Planner's Batch
If you want to delete your previous batch before posting this data on the Material Planner Workbench form, select Yes. If you select No, new data is added to the previous batch.
Note: In some situations, if you do not delete the planner's batch, the Generation does not process any records.
    Source
Select the check box of each item source for the types of items you want to include in the utility:
    • Purchased
    • Transferred
    Ending Date
Select an ending date to define the range of data to the Material Planner Workbench form. Records with calculated release dates (see the calculation) that fall after this date are not included in the batch.
    Planner Code
Specify the code for the planner who is responsible for this batch of data.
    Warehouse
To calculate replenishment requirements for all warehouses, select the default warehouse. To calculate replenishment requirements for only a single warehouse, select that warehouse.
    Buyer
Select the buyer whose records you want to include in the utility. Leave this field blank to include all buyers.
    Forecast Planning
Select how you want a forecast to be considered in the planning process:
    • Original Forecast: This option generates a replenishment order based on the original forecast amount, regardless of what has been consumed or the current demand for each material forecast record.
    • Outstanding Forecast Requirement: This option generates a replenishment order based on the outstanding requirement that has not yet been consumed. This option assumes that the current demand has or will be replenished in a separate process.
    • Forecast and Demand (Default): This option generates a replenishment order based on current demand, along with an extra replenishment order for the outstanding requirement of the forecast not currently consumed.
    • Demand Only: This option ignores the forecast.
  2. If you want requirements to be replenished by transfer orders, select Transfer. For any other means of replenishment (such as by jobs or purchase orders), select Direct. Direct demand generates replenishments to the selected warehouse, and direct demand data can populate any Material Planner Workbench view except Purchase Requisitions.
  3. On the Detail tab, select the range of values for these fields to include in the utility:
    • Item
    • Transfer
    • SRO
    • Sales Order
    • Parts Order
  4. Select Process for each record type that you want to include in the utility.

If you are generating data based on a range of jobs or projects, ensure that every job or project in the range is scheduled. Jobs and projects that have not been scheduled are not be included on the Material Planner Workbench form. Run the Scheduling activity before running the Material Planner Workbench Generation.

  5. Click Process.
  6. After you click Process, the Errors tab lists any items that were not processed because they already exist on another Material Planner Workbench.
