Sources

The term Sources represents the tables containing the documents, master data etc, that reside within the ERP or source application. These are the tables from which data will be extracted. Sources will later be mapped to their corresponding destination tables within the project. Sources can be of three types:

  • Source tables-These are physical tables from the ERP application.
  • Derived tables-These are virtual tables that allow you to collect data from the source system in ways other than how they are natively stored in the database. The data they contain can be derived from multiple ERP tables.
  • Source Relationships-These are used to define how two source tables are related, based on a specific column within each table.

When you open an existing project and click the Sources tab, the panel on the left displays the list of tables in the ERP for the selected project. The tool bar above the left panel contains filter icons that allow you to search tables by type-click on the required icon to view only ERP tables or only derived or relationship tables.

When you open a new project, the Sources tab does not contain any tables. You need to browse for the required tables and add them into the project, either by selecting tables from the ERP application or from a CSV file.
