Converting Excel to XML

This section guides you to convert Excel files for rule books, rules or Parameter Lists to XML.

To convert from Excel to XML:

  1. Double-click BRRuleConverter.exe. The Rule Conversion Utility screen is displayed. The option Convert from Excel to XML is selected by default.
  2. In the Application Type field, select the desired ERP application from the drop-down list.
  3. Specify the Excel file to be converted to XML. Click the browse icon to locate the file.
  4. Specify a directory path to store the new XML file. Click the browse icon to locate the path.
    Caution:
The field Specify name for the converted file is disabled while converting an Excel file to an XML file.
  5. Click Convert. The utility converts the Excel file to an XML file and stores it at the specified location. A message box displays the result of the conversion. The converted output XML file is stamped with date and time. Any exceptions or errors encountered during the conversion are logged in a log file located at the output directory path specified. A log file named BRXLToXML is created at the same location as that of the output file.
  6. Click Exit to close the utility and view the converted file at the specified output location.
Note: Click View Rules Template or View Parameter Library Template to view the pre-defined Excel templates shipped with the utility.
    Caution:
Before uploading the final XML file into IRC, ensure that an extraction has been performed for the Authorizations Insight used for rule building. Unless data from the application is available in IRC, you cannot add new objects to a rule or create a new rule.
