Rule book security
Rule books can be secured as:
- By defining rule book owners and business process owners.
- By locking the rule books so that the rule books cannot be modified, enabled or disabled. Locked rule books also cannot be imported. By default, rule books are unlocked. Locked rule books are indicated with an icon.
The creator of the rule book is the default owner. Rule book owners have full administrative permissions over the rule book they own and can assign other users as rule book owners or Business Process Owners of that rule book.
The Business Process Owner is below the Rule Book Owner in the rule book ownership hierarchy. Business Process Owners have the same rights as Rule Book Owners; however, the Business Process Owners cannot add or remove Rule Book Owners or Business Process Owners.
Rule book ownership can be assigned at the time of creating the rule book, at the time of creating a user, or by editing an existing rule book. After creating your rule book, click the Action tab on the More Details panel. This tab enables you to specify the users to be notified by email when a rule in the rule book is violated.
Read Only Access to Rules and Rule books
Users who are neither Business Process owners nor Rule Book owners can still view rule books, provided the assigned role is modified to allow read-only access to these pages. More details on customizing roles can be found in the Online Help.
