Test Your Rule

After building one or more conditions within a rule, you can test the rule against the data present in the Infor Risk & Compliance database. The Test Rule tab enables you to verify if the rule returns the expected results and check if any data meets rule criteria.

You have the option to specify the number of exceptions to be written to the Infor Risk & Compliance database when testing rules for Process Insights. For this you need to configure the GenRuleEngineConfig.xml located at [Install Path]\Settings. For details refer to the Platform Configuration Settings document.

To test the rule:

  1. Select a connection. Data extracted through this connection is analyzed using this rule. By default , all connections will be selected. To select a specific connection, clear the ALL check box. Type in a part of the connection name in the autosuggest text box. The Browse Connections pop-up window displays all the existing connections matching the search criteria. Select the desired connection.

Alternatively, click the Browse icon to browse and select the desired connection. In case of secured connections, users signed into IRC can view and use only those connections that they have access to.

  2. If parameters are used in the rule conditions, you need to attach the parameter list containing the parameters.

Type in a part of the parameter list name in the autosuggest text box. All parameter lists names matching the search criteria will be displayed. Select the required name. Alternatively, click the Browse icon to browse for and select the desired parameter lists name and click OK. The selected parameter list appears in the Parameter List field.

  3. From the Number of Exceptions to Show drop-down list, select the number of exceptions to be displayed after the rule is tested.
  4. Click Test Rule. The system displays a message asking for confirmation.
  5. Click Yes. The system analyzes the rule and displays the results in a Test Rule Exceptions pop-up window. The result displays the total count of exceptions and details of the first five exceptions for each object.

Click an exception link to view the details of the exception on the Research tab on level 3 of Exceptions browser.

Note: If a rule is violated, an entry is made in the log file specified in the Violation Log File field on the Configuration page.
