Browser Settings

This section describes the recommended browser settings for IRC that must be configured on the user’s browser.

  • Internet Explorer
    RECOMMENDATION CONFIGURATION
    Add IRC Server URL to the Trusted Sites list
    1. Go to Tools > Internet Options.
    2. Navigate to the Security tab and choose Trusted Sites. Click on the Sites button.
    3. In the Add this Web site to the zone: text box, type the IRC server name with the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) and click Add.
    4. Select the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box if the IRC URL is secured.
    5. Click Close.
    Allow automatic pop-ups

    This setting is required because IRC opens some of its web page in a new window.

    1. Open Internet Explorer .
    2. Click Tools > Pop-up blocker, and then click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
    3. In the Address of website to allow box, type the address (or URL) of the website you want to see pop-ups from, and then click Add. For example: server.infor.com, *.approva.net.
    4. Repeat step 3 for every website you want to allow pop-ups from. When you are finished adding websites, click Close.
    If your IRC setup is in Integrated Authentication mode, verify these settings
    1. On Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options.
    2. Click on the Security tab.
    3. Select the Internet Zone.
    4. Click Custom level and scroll down to the bottom.
    5. Under User Authentication, select Prompt for user name and password - OFF.
    6. Click OK
    Automatic prompting for file downloads

    IRC enables a user to download the data in the exported format, based on the roles defined for that user. The following settings must be configured to allow the user to download the files:

    1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options.
    2. Click the Security tab. There are four security zones listed:
      • Internet
      • Local intranet
      • Trusted sites
      • Restricted sites
    3. Click the zone where you want to change the settings.
    4. Under Security level for this zone, click Custom Level.
      • For IE 8 - Under Downloads, under Automatic prompting for file downloads, click Enable, and then click OK twice.
      • For IE 9 onwards – Under Downloads, under File Download, click Enable-ON.
  • Google Chrome
    RECOMMENDATION CONFIGURATION

    Add IRC Server URL to the Trusted Sites list

    1. Click the Chrome Wrench menu(Alt + F).
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Under Network option - Click Change Proxy Settings.
    4. Navigate to the Security tab and choose Trusted Sites. Click on the Sites button.
    5. In the Add this Web site to the zone: text box, type the IRC server name with the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) and click Add.
    6. Select the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box if the IRC URL is secured.
    7. Click Close.

    Allow automatic pop-ups

    This setting is required because IRC opens some of its web page in a new window.

    1. Click the Chrome Wrench menu(Alt + F).
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Click on Privacy option - Content Setting.
    4. Under Pop-up section - Click on Manage Exception setting.
    5. In the Hostname pattern text box, type the address (or URL) of the website you want to see pop-ups from, and then select allow and then click Add. For example:server.infor.com, *.approva.net.
    6. Click Close.

    If your IRC setup is in Integrated Authentication mode, verify these settings

    1. Click the Chrome Wrench menu(Alt + F).
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Under Network option - Click Change Proxy Settings.
    4. Under Security tab - Select the Internet Zone.
    5. Click Custom level and scroll down to the bottom.
    6. Under User Authentication, select prompt for user name and password.
    7. Click OK.

    Automatic prompting for file downloads

    IRC enables a user to download the data in the exported format, based on the roles defined for that user. These settings must be configured to allow the user to download the files:

    1. Click the Chrome Wrench menu(Alt + F).
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Under Network option - Click Change Proxy Settings. Under Security tab - There are four security zones listed:
      • Internet
      • Local Intranet
      • Trusted sites
      • Restricted sites
    4. Click the zone where you want to change the settings.
    5. Under Security level for this zone, click Custom Level.
    6. Under Downloads, under File Download, click Enable.
  • Safari
    RECOMMENDATION CONFIGURATION

    Add IRC Server URL to the Trusted Sites list

    1. Go to Menu
    2. Click Edit->Preferences from the drop down menu.
    3. Select the Advanced tab and then click the Change Settings button.
    4. Navigate to the Security tab and choose Trusted Sites. Click the Sites button.
    5. In the Add this Web site to the zone: text box, type the IRC server name with the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) and click Add.
    6. Select the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box if the IRC URL is secured.
    7. Click Close.

    Allow automatic pop-ups

    1. Go to Menu
    2. Click Preferences from the drop down menu.
    3. Select 'Security' on the top row.
    4. Clear the 'Block pop-up windows' box.

    If your IRC setup is in Integrated Authentication mode, verify these settings

    1. Go to Menu
    2. Click Preferences from the drop down menu.
    3. Select the Advanced tab and then click the Change Settings button.
    4. Select Security tab.
    5. Select the Internet Zone.
    6. Click Custom level and scroll down to the bottom.
    7. Under User Authentication, select prompt for user name and password.
    8. Click OK
