Backing up the Database

Back up the database as follows:

  1. On the Start menu, point to Programs Microsoft SQL Server and click SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Rights click the IRC database TasksBackup. The Backup Database- IRC database screen is displayed.

    In the General section:

  3. From the drop-down list, select the database to be backed up.
  4. Provide a Name and a description for the database backup.
  5. In the Destination section, click Add.

  6. Provide a destination for the backup or click browse icon to browse for a destination.
  7. Specify how you want your database to be backed up:
    1. File name: Click to select a location/file on your server for taking the backup.
    2. Backup device: Click to select an external device for taking the backup.
  8. Click OK.
