Creating an online connection

This page enables you to create new online connections or modify an existing connection.

Users having access to the Security or the Connections page can create or modify connections. Connections can be assigned connection owners and connection users. After a connection is created, it is displayed in the respective ERP panel on the Connections home page.

To create a connection:

  1. On the Connections page, click New to display a list of the ERP applications. Select the required ERP to display the New Connection page.
  2. Specify a user defined connection name. This connection name is used while scheduling an extraction.
  3. Specify a description for this connection.
  4. Specify the user name and password to create a connection and later to extract data.
  5. From the Provider drop-down list, select the provider, based on the back end database.
  6. Specify the name of the server or the IP address.
Note: If a wrong server name is specified, or the text box is left blank, these scenarios may arise:
    • If the backend database is SQL, IRC validates the server name and display an error message.
    • If the backend database is Oracle, IRC creates a connection without validating the server name in the text box.
    • If the backend database is DB2, IRC creates a connection without validating the server name in the text box.
  7. Specify the name of the data source or host.
    • If the provider is SQL, the database name is Data Source.
    • If the provider is Oracle, the database name is TNS Alias.
    • If the provider is DB2, the database name is Data Source.
  8. From the Language drop-down list, select the connection language. Data is extracted in the selected language.
Note: The language supported depends on the ERP selected to create a connection. For details see Infor Risk & Compliance Online Help shipped with the product.
  9. Select the User ID Policies check box to define a combination of characters that must be used to specify the User ID for the users created for this connection through an ERP Request. Clear this check box if you do not wish to define the user ID policies. By default, the check box is selected.
    Note:
    • If the combination of characters for the user ID is defined, the User ID specified in the New User ID field while creating an User Creation What-if or a User Creation Request for ERP must follow the same combination of characters that is defined here.
    • If the combination of characters for the user ID is not defined, the User ID may be specified as required by the creator of the request or What-if and will be retained as it is typed.
    • If the Platform is upgraded from a previous version, the connection created in the previous version displays the User ID Policies check box and these conditions for the user ID as selected.
      • The User ID Type drop-down list displays the option UPPER CASE.
      • The Minimum User ID length text box displays 1, which means the minimum length of the user ID must be 1 character.
      • The Maximum User ID length text box displays 12, which means the maximum length of the user ID must be 12 characters.
  10. For write back, specify the user name and password of the web server.
Note: For the PeopleSoft ERP, the web server credentials are not validated by IRC. If wrong credentials are provided, write back is not successful.
  11. Select whether data from this connection must be secured.
  12. Select whether users extracted from this connection must be mapped:
    • Select Map Connection Users (Participation in Cross Connection Analysis) to map users extracted from the connection to a single IRC profile.
    • Select Do not map Connection Users (No Participation in Cross Connection Analysis) to create independent user profiles.
  13. Click Save. You can use this new connection to schedule an extraction.
Use Enable Notification icon to notify users, via email, about the events relevant to this task.
