Alternate Approvers in the Request Process
When a request is initiated, it takes the following route:
- The approval process engine checks the status of each approver to ensure that the approver has not been marked out of office.
- If the approver has been marked out of office, the request is sent to the alternate approver, if available.
- If no alternate approver is available, or if the alternate approver does not take action on the request, the request is kept pending in the previous approvers queue. When the approver marks himself back in the office, the approval process engine scans through all requests that have been kept waiting for that particular approver and routes them to the approver.
Note: Changes made to the Out of Office Settings reflect in the Previous
Comments section of a request. This section states whether a request has been
routed to an alternate approver, whether an alternate approver has been changed
or whether the request has been sent back to the original approver.
