Importing rule books

The import feature is useful if you want to share rule books with other users or if you want to use your rule books on other IRC servers.
Note: You cannot import rules from a rule book if the Insight for which the rules are created is not installed and activated on your system. In such cases only the rule book is imported without rules.

To import a rule book:

  1. Select Design > Rule Books.
The Rule Books page is displayed.
  2. Click the More Actions icon and click Import.
The Import Rule Books window is displayed.
  3. Click Browse to locate for and select the file (.zip or .xml) to be imported.
  4. Click the Upload icon to upload the imported file.
The system displays the Rule Book and the Rule Import options.
  5. Provide a name for the action to help you track this task on the Tasks or on the Import/Export page.
  6. Select the Import All Rule Books check box to import all the rule books contained in the imported file (.zip or .xml).
  7. On the Import File Content panel, you can select specific rule books from the imported file. The search filters on this panel enable you to search for a specific rule book. Select the check box next to the rule book to be imported.

    Note:
    • All the options for rules work only if the signed-in user is the Rule Book Owner (RBO) or the Business Process Owner (BPO).
    • If you import rule books containing attached parameters, ensure that these parameters are present in the IRC application. Else create or import the parameters before importing the rule books. Parameters are not automatically imported with rule books.
    • Process Insight rules must have Primary Violating Object selected in their rule condition. Else, the status of such rules show as Expired after the import.
