Online Extraction

Online extraction is the process of directly connecting to the ERP system to extract data. Provide information on the following panels to schedule an online extraction:
  • General Information
Provide the following information on this panel:
    1. Provide a task name to identify the extraction schedule on the Tasks and Schedules pages.

    2. Provide a description for this task.
  • Scope

This panel enables you to scope the data to be extracted:

    1. Select a connection from the Connections drop-down list. If connections are secured, signed-in users can view only those connections that they have access to.
    2. Select the online extraction button to extract data directly from the source application or the ERP system.
      Note:
      • If the connection selected for data extraction is either an offline connection or an offline connection to which remote data is mapped, the radio buttons Online and Offline are disabled.
      • If the connection selected for data extraction is either an online connection or an online connection to which remote data is mapped, the Online and Offline  buttons are both enabled. The Online button is selected by default. Select the Offline button to use data from a mapped connection.
    3. From the Insight drop-down list, select the required Insight for data extraction. The Insights displayed in this list depend on the connections selected in the Connections drop-down list.
    4. This step is applicable only if Process Insight is selected in the Insight drop-down list. From the Application Name drop-down list that is displayed, select the application from where the data is to be extracted.
    5. To enhance extraction performance, Infor Risk & Compliance enables you to select the objects to be extracted. The number of default objects selected depends on the Insight selected in the Insight drop-down list. The number of objects selected is displayed in the Select Objects field. Click the Browse icon to select specific objects. By default, all objects are selected for Infor, Lawson and SAP connections and the following objects from Oracle and PeopleSoft connections are not selected for extraction:

          Note:
          • The file ObjectList.xml enables you to permanently exclude certain objects from being extracted. For details, refer to the Configuration Settings Guide for the respective Infor Risk & Compliance Insights. All rules referring to these excluded objects will not generate any violations. Any reports that refer to these objects will also be impacted.
          • The file OUDetails.xml enables you to exclude all users from a specific organization unit from being extracted. For details refer to the Configuration Settings guide.

Extraction from Lawson does not support excluding objects using the ObjectList.xml and OUDetails.xml.

Note:  Extraction from the Process Insight depends on the type of license files you have. You could have separate license files for each Process Insight or a common license file.
The other filters displayed on this panel vary depending on the connection and the Insight selected as explained below:
      • Modify Default Filters

The Modify Default Filters field is displayed if an SAP connection is selected in the Connections drop-down list. This field enables you scope your extraction by modifying the default filters for the Authorizations Insight for SAP and the Process Insight for SAP so that you obtain only the data you require. By default, all selected objects are extracted. To modify the selection, click the Browse icon and select the required filters. Click the Add icon.

Note: The Modify Default Filters field is not displayed if you select an offline connection in the Connections drop-down list.
      • Use two-step extraction process

If you are extracting data for the Configuration Insight for SAP, you can select the Use two-step extraction process check box if required. For more details on two-step extraction, refer to the section Extraction Types on this page.

      • Extraction Type
The fields displayed in this panel depend on the Insight selected in the Insights field.
        • For Process Insights - The following options are displayed:
          • Full : Select the radio button Full and scope the data to be extracted using any of the following options:
            • Select Specific Dates : Click the Calendar icon and select the required dates in the Start and End fields. Data created in Lawson from 12.01 am of the selected start date to 11.59pm of the selected end date is extracted
            • Select Specific Period : Specify the required number of days in the field provided. For example if you specify 15 days, data created in Lawson for the last 15 days is extracted.
          • Incremental : Select this radio button and scope the data to be extracted by specifying the Start Date, End Date, and the number of days by which the subsequent extractions must be incremented.

The dates selected here are according to the ERP time zone.

        • Authorizations Insight for SAP- The following options are displayed:
          • Full Extraction - Select this option to schedule a Full extraction. For details , see the section Full Extraction
          • Incremental Extraction - Select this option to schedule an Incremental extraction. For details, see the section Incremental Extraction. When you select this option, you must specify the time (in minutes), by which the subsequent extractions must be incremented.
Note:  If you schedule an incremental extraction by 60 minutes, the first extraction will always be a full extraction , by default. The subsequent extractions will be incremental extractions and will extract all the data that has been added, modified, or deleted in the 60 minutes span from the start time of the last extraction. For example, if the first extraction starts at 1.00 p.m , the next incremental extraction must start at 2.00 p.m, considering the 60 minutes extraction time. However, if the first extraction does not complete by 2 p.m, the next incremental extraction will start only at 3.00 p.m and will extract all the data that has been added, modified, or deleted since 1.00 p.m.
  • Schedule
Create a schedule for extraction as follows:
    1. On the Schedule panel, click the Calendar icon to select the Start Date and click the Clock icon to select Start Time to start the extraction schedule.
    2. From the Recurring frequency drop-down list, select one of these extraction recurrence options.
      • Never: The task will not recur.
      • Daily: The task will recur daily.
      • Weekly: The task will recur weekly. Specify these conditions:
        • Recurring frequency interval: Specify the number of weeks for the recurrence. For example, if you specify the value as 2, the recurrence will occur every two weeks.
        • Select days of the week: Select the day for the recurrence. For example, Sunday and Tuesday.
      • Monthly: The task will recur monthly. Specify these conditions:
        • On specific week day: Select this option to:
          • Select week day: The particular day of the week for the task to recur. For example, Sunday.
          • Select week: The particular week of a month for the task to recur. For example, first week of every month.
          • Select recurring frequency interval: Select the recurring frequency interval (in weeks) for the task to recur. For example, if you specify the value as 2, the recurrence will occur every two weeks.
        • On specific day: Select this option to define:
          • Specific day: Specify the number of days for the task to recur. For example, if you specify 2, the task will recur after every 2 days starting from the first analysis scheduled.
    3. Set End Date: Specify one of these end dates for the extraction:
      • No end date: The task will continue to recur.
      • Occurrences: Specify the number of occurrences. For example, if you specify 2, the task will recur twice only.
      • End date: Click the calendar icon to select a specific end date for the recurrence.
    4. Click Save and Close .

The date and time selected on this page is according to the time zone defined on the Preferences page.

Note: By default, two extraction tasks cannot run concurrently.

Once you have successfully extracted data from your ERP application, you can perform an analysis to analyze the extracted data for any existing violations.

Note: If extraction from Lawson fails due to connection errors, the Lawson adapter attempts to re-establish the connection and complete the extraction. The adapter is designed to try to re-establish the connection 5 times.
