How to Collect Logs

Log files can be collected by scoping, selecting the type of log files to be collected and collecting files. Before collecting log files, ensure that all other maintenance background processes such as database back-up or anti virus scans are switched off.

  1. To scope the data to be collected select one of the following options:
    1. All application logs: Select this option to collect all log files.
    2. Date Range: Select this option to define the period for which you wish to collect logs by selecting the From and To dates from the calender. The dates selected here are according to the local time zone defined on the Preferences page.
    3. Number of days(including today) for which logs will be collected: Select this option to collect the latest log files. For example, if you enter as 7 days, you can collect logs for the past 7 days which includes the current day.
  2. To select the type of log files select one of the following buttons.
    • Application Logs and Configuration Files: This is selected by default.
    • Registry Information
    • Database Maintenance Information
    • Additional Information
  3. Click Save. A long running task is created on the Tasks page. Files are collected and zipped into single .zip file.

After the information is collected, it is available for downloading as a .zip file on the Collect Logs page. The start time and end time of the logs collection task is also displayed below the zip file. If your local time zone is selected in the General Panel > User time zone field of the Preferences page, the time displayed here is your local time when the log collection started and ended.

Click the .zip file name link and save it to a location of your choice.

Information collected in the .zip file and is stored at the following path:

    [Install Path]\BizRightsPresentation\Logs\CollectLogs.

    • SQL server information is stored in AdditionalSQLSvrInfo.csv
    • IRC Information is stored in AdditionalBRInfo.csv
    • Registry information is stored in YYYYMMDD_BizRightsRegistry.log
Note:  If you click on Collect, without selecting a check box, only log files at the files listed under File Collection Paths will be collected.
