Configuring costing settings
You can specify what cost model is automatically applied when a user creates a new style or through other means.
This table shows how the exception matrix rules are applied when creating styles.
Way of creating styles | How the rules are applied |
---|---|
Manually | When the criteria fields are filled with values consistent with the exception matrix, specific cost model is applied.
When the criteria fields are not filled with values consistent with the exception matrix, the default cost model is applied. |
Copied from another style | When the Costing info cluster is not selected, exception matrix rules are applied.
When Costing info cluster is selected, exception matrix is not applied (even if there is no cost model assigned to the source record). |
As a variant of another style | When the Costing info cluster is not selected, exception matrix rules are applied.
When Costing info cluster is selected, exception matrix is not applied (even if there is no cost model assigned to the source record). |
Mass create | When the Costing info cluster is not selected, exception matrix rules are applied.
When Costing info cluster is selected, exception matrix is not applied (even if there is no cost model assigned to the source record). |
Mass create carryover | When the Costing info cluster is not selected, exception matrix rules are applied.
When Costing info cluster is selected, exception matrix is not applied (even if there is no cost model assigned to the source record). |
Carried over | The default cost model does not apply because it will always follow the source record, even if there is no cost model assigned to the source record. |
This table shows how the exception matrix rules are applied when updating styles.
Way of updating style | How the rules are applied |
---|---|
Manually | Updates on the criteria fields of an existing style does not trigger the application of the exception matrix.
The cost model on an existing style can be updated. |
Through mass update | When the Costing info cluster is not selected, exception matrix rules are applied.
When Costing info cluster is not selected, exception matrix rules are applied if target record has an existing cost model assigned to it. When Costing info cluster is selected, exception matrix is not applied (even if there is no cost model assigned to the source record).
Note: On the current and existing behavior of Mass Update, independent from Costing Settings, when a style already has an existing cost model or cost element or costing header information is already updated, even if it has been deleted, the Mass update functionality will no longer update the Cost Model header information but will still update the cost elements.
