Defining cost elements
Cost elements in fashion can include expenditures on raw materials, human resources, activities, and processes. Define cost elements in the application and then associate them later on to the costing of a style record.
- From the menu, select Basics > Cost Element.
- Click New.
- Specify this information:
- Code
- Specify a code for the cost element.
- Name
- Specify a name for the cost element.
- Description
- Optionally, provide a description for the cost element.
- Cost Level
- Select a cost level. Cost levels are a generic lookup type and can be defined in Generic Lookup.
- Type
- Select a cost element type.
- Input enables you to specify an numeric value for the cost element.
- Calculated enables you to create a formula that computes the cost element value together with other cost element values.
- Constant enables you to specify a fixed value for the cost element. By selecting this type, only you can modify the value of the cost element.
- User Exit enables you to compute the value of the cost element from different sources through plug-ins, which can interface with other systems that return a cost value.
- Cost Element Decimal Setting
-
By default, this field follows the Style Costing decimal setting. However, it can be adjusted, overriding the default.
Select a decimal setting value. Available values are None, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
This enables you to define a decimal setting for each cost element.
The set decimal is applied upon adding it to a Cost Model or Style Costing.
Updating the Cost Element Decimal Setting field does not apply retrospectively. This means that existing Style costing and Cost Models containing the Cost element with the updated decimal setting does not reflect the change unless the cost element is re-added.
