Customizing style field labels in different languages
- Download Custom Labels
- Upload Custom Labels
- Select Tools > Flex Query View.
-
Click Download Custom Labels.
The downloaded Excel file contains a list of the Style fields with their standard field labels. Added to the list are the corresponding standard field labels in these supported languages:
- Chinese
- English
- French
- German
- Italian
- Spanish
- Turkish
-
Optionally, customize the field labels in the supported languages. The saved
changes are applied to all the FQV records’ grids, column chooser, and advanced
filter.
Guidelines in updating the custom labels:
-
Standard Field Names are arranged for each entity’s info cluster. Use the Excel’s search and filter functions to look for specific field labels.
-
Only the seven supported languages that are set as Active in the Language Generic Lookup are displayed in the Excel file.
-
The standard translations of the Style field labels are displayed in the Excel file.
-
Only the cells highlighted in sky blue are editable and the rest are read-only.
-
A validation in Excel to limit the characters in field name to a maximum of 50 characters is set.
- Importantly, to avoid issues in the file upload, do not insert new or delete any Excel sheets from the downloaded file. Ensure that the custom label sheet is always at the 1st sheet position.
-
-
After customization and saving of the custom label sheet, click Upload Custom Labels.
Note: The upload button is disabled while an upload is in progress.
-
Once the upload is completed, refresh the page to re-enable the upload
function.
The custom labels are only applied to the current schema that you are using. The custom labels are copied when exporting and importing a version from one environment to another.
-
Additionally, If an FQV record is already open and new labels are uploaded, you
must first refresh the page of the FQV record before the changes to take
effect.
Note: Modifying the audit log tab is unavailable. Every time a user successfully uploads the Excel file, the system automatically updates the audit log tab by adding the name of the user who uploaded the file and the date and time stamp.
The Style Extended fields are not included in the Excel file. The label customization is done directly in the Extended Field module.
Customizing the labels also affects the reports if the XML used is generated from FQV. You must manually modify the reports using the new field labels if there are changes in field names. But if the XML used for the report is from the Report Template module, then reports are not affected.
