On-demand loading of lookup values
UI performance and optimization factors to consider when setting up and loading Generic Lookup values.
- The application only loads the Generic Lookup (GL) values when the users click on a field. The loading animation is displayed only on the first instance that the field is clicked and will no longer show on the succeeding clicks, given the list has been loaded already.
- The GL field dropdown list only loads the first 50 values. The first 50 are based on the existing default sorting order of GL fields. First, it checks the GL sequence order defined in the GL library. If the sequence is not defined, the list is then arranged alphabetically based on the GL name.
- Users have the option to search. Be guided that if the search result is selected as a value for the field, then that value is added to the dropdown list. This means the dropdown list shows a total of 51 values. The added value in the list is only added to the specific record and not to all records.

The optimization is applied only to selected areas of the application that have GL fields. See the table for reference on the applicable fields:

You can adjust the number of values in the Generic Lookup dropdown list. When the setting is off, all affected generic lookup fields will shows the generic lookup values in the dropdown list.
