Materials and Trims

Materials, such as fabrics and leather, as well as trims, such as buttons, zippers, artwork, developers, and specialists can use the Materials or Trims modules to add different type of information for the design and development of the material and trim product. You can store this information: generic information, colorways, sizes (trims only), characteristics, construction info (material only) comments, Care info, composition, Compliance test info, images, and attachments.

Information is available in these conditions:
  • Within the material or trim clusters only

  • Within the material or trim clusters as well as in a contextual pane

  • Only in a contextual pane

Developers and specialists can use these clusters:

Material and Trim Overview

Includes the base outline of the product such as name, description, main category, category, sub category, main supplier information and prices, and composition. The product data are predefined in so called generic look up tables, free fields, data, and quantity fields. It is possible to add extra fields to this overview using the extended fields capability.

Material and Trim Colorways

In Material or Trim colorways you define what the colors are for the product. The colors can be added to a material or trim.
  • Ad hoc

Using colors from a color library

o Using colors from a predefined subpalette or color palette

o To each material colorway you can see labdips if they have been created. See also Request for labdips section

Material and Trim characteristics

Some products may have additional dimensions when working with ‘cup’ sizes, quality, or length, or maybe to indicate a difference of product by ‘country’ or region. You can set up characteristics and add those to a material and trim.

Material and Trim Care

Use to add care symbol label information for materials and trims. These are automatically retrieved to the Style BOM.

Material and Trim Image

Images are added to each material and trim directly from a local library or the PLM document library.

Material and Trim Where Used

You can view where or in what styles the material or trim is used and what the consumption is of that material or trim in that style.

Material Construction

Use to define for materials the construction and yarn information.
  • Construction
    • Woven with information such as warp, weft count, and shrinkage information

    • Knit construction information around courses, wales, and gauge

    • Weight

  • Sample Yarn - gives you the ability to define the source of each yarn (country, supplier etc.) and composition info for sustainability 3rd level in supply chain information
  • Yarn filament, Spun and Filament, and Spun information can be added

Trim Sizes

A Trim could contain sizes. Typically sizes are added using size ranges.

Trim additional info

Use to provide additional information about trims, including artwork, embroidery, and print.
