Configuring copy/variant settings

On this page you can:
  • Enable a setting so that attachments of a style that you copy in the PLM for Fashion Extension for Adobe Illustrator are copied as new files
  • Enable a setting so that colors in the Color Library with Operational field set as Inactive are not included in the copied entities
  • Control whether variants can contain a color that is used by another variant or the parent record
  • Control whether users can create a variant of another variant
  • Control which fields have blank values or unchecked for check boxes after copying a record.
  1. Select Setup > Settings.
  2. Click the Copy / Variant icon.
  3. Specify this information:
Copy attachment as a new file

Select to enable. When this is enabled, every time you copy a style in the PLM for Fashion Extension for Adobe Illustrator, all attachments are copied as new files instead of being linked to the source style.

    Select from these options:
    • Adobe Illustrator - This setting creates a new .ai attachment when copying the Style record from the AI extension only.
    • CLO-Vise - This setting creates a new .zprj attachment, including all associated Overview & Colorway images, if any, when copying the Style record from the CLO-Vise plugin, or from PLM for Fashion.
Do not copy colors with operational field value of inactive
Select to enable. When this is enabled, every time you initiate a copy action involving colors, colors in the Color Library with Operational field set as Inactive are not included in the copied entities.
    Options
In the drop down menu, select where this setting applies. You can select all or several of these options:
    • Style copy, including create variant, mass create, create carryover, mass create carryover, and mass update
    • Material copy
    • Trim copy
    • Color palette copy
  4. In the Copy Fields section, you can specify which fields have blank values or unchecked for check boxes after copying a record. This setting applies to style copy, style create variant, style mass create, style create carryover, and style mass create carryover. Specify this information:
    Style Overview System Defined Fields
Select fields from the list. Click Select All to use all fields.
    Style Overview Extended Fields
Select fields from the list. Click Select All to use all fields.
    Style Colorways System Defined Fields
Select fields from the list. Click Select All to use all fields.

For a list of style fields that can have blank values, see List of fields that can have blank values after copy action.

  5. In the Define Default Copy Field Value section, add and select the field default value for Status.
Note: The Add New Row button is no longer applicable when the Status field is already added to the grid.

The input value setting in this section applies to Style Copy, Style Create Variant, Style Mass Create, Style Create Carryover, and Style Mass Create Carryover.

  6. In the Define Default Mass Update Field Value section, add and specify the default value for the Alt Product Code. This setting applies to Style Mass Update only.
Note: The Add New Row button is no longer applicable when the Alt Product Code field is already added to the grid.

When adding a line, the default value is Style and Alt Product Code since there is only one option.

Since Alt Product Code is a text field, you can specify any value but it must be within the 50-character limit. You can also leave this field blank. The value entered here is the default value for any mass-updated style records.

  7. In the Variant section:
    1. Select Distinct colors on parent and variant records to prevent users from assigning colors that are already assigned to another variant or parent record.
Note: This setting does not apply to Mass Update.
    2. Select Allow variants for parent records only to prevent users from creating variants of another variant.
Manually-created styles or styles created through Copy, Mass Create, Carryover, or Mass Create Carryover can still have variants with this setting enabled.
    3. Select Allow parent records with variants to be deleted to allow users to delete records that have variants. This setting is cleared by default.
By default, users cannot delete records with variants, including copied records with variants, carryover records with variants, mass created records with variants, and variant records with variants. Enable this setting to allow users to delete records with variants.
  8. Click Save or press Alt+S.
