Duplicating a folder

You can use the Duplicate action from the context menu of a folder to create a deep copy that you can edit without altering the contents of the original folder.

All folder contents such as subfolders, process maps, BPMN models, and the registry entries they reference are duplicated. Diagram links to models outside this folder are kept during duplication. Before editing the referenced models, make a duplicate of their parent folder as well. Document attachments are not duplicated; the copied models reference the same attachments as the original models.

When you duplicate a folder, a dialog box with the original folder name and an editable suffix field is displayed. A numeric suffix in parentheses is suggested. If the folder name already includes a numeric suffix, the number is increased. You can specify a custom suffix before you confirm the duplication. The suffix field must not be empty.

The duplicated folder name follows this pattern: original folder name + space + suffix

The new folder name is validated in real time. If a folder with the same name already exists in the path, an inline message Folder already exists is displayed. The duplication cannot continue until you specify a unique name. All subcategories receive the same name as the duplicated folder.

A duplicate folder is created by default at the same location as the original folder. You can use Cut and Paste to move the duplicated subfolder to another main folder. You can rename the duplicated folder, and you can edit the models it contains and the registry entries they use without affecting the original copy.

In the case of locked folders, you must use the Duplicate action at the level of the main folder to create a copy of an Infor Process Catalog as a main folder. You can then edit the local copy. Your changes are not affected by further updates of the Infor standard content. See also Working with locked categories from the Registry section for more information.

To create a duplicate of a locked subfolder, you can use the Duplicate as a Main Folder action. A duplicate copy of the subfolder is created at the root of the folder tree, which is unlocked and can be edited.

Note: You can also use Copy and Paste to create copies of the folders that are not locked. In this case, only the subfolders and the models in the folders are copied. The same registry entries are used by the original models as well as their copies. In this case, changing names, descriptions or other string attributes in the copied models also affects the original models, unless you make sure to select a new registry entry for each attribute that must be different.
