Element attributes 2.0

Use element attributes to control how the element behaves and is displayed, add details, and support its intended function.

Edit the element attributes

You can edit attributes for one element at a time. You can also select multiple elements in a diagram and edit the attributes they share. When you edit shared attributes, all selected elements are updated. This helps you keep styles and business information consistent and reduces manual errors.

You can select multiple elements on the canvas in these two ways:

Press and hold Shift (Command in MacOS) and click each element.
Use the lasso selection tool.

You can select any combination of supported elements.

When you select more than one element:

Only the attributes that all selected elements have in common are shown in the Attributes panel.
If all the selected elements have the same value, that value is displayed.
If all the selected elements have different values, you can specify a new common value in the empty field. The new value then replaces the old values.

Note: Changes made through multi-select and shared-attribute editing cannot be undone with CTRL+Z after saving.

Before you save, a warning message is shown to notify you that the changes are irreversible. Select No if you want to discard the changes

Configure navigation behavior with attributes

Diagram links

Use the Diagram links business attribute to link an element to other diagrams. All Process Map 2.0 element types support the Diagram links business attribute.

To add a diagram link:

Select an element, expand the Business Attributes menu, and locate Diagram Links.
Click the Add (+) button to open the diagram selection dialog box.
Select a target diagram, and click Apply.

Use the Up and Down buttons to reorder links.

Use the Edit button to change a target diagram.

Use the Delete button to remove a link.

Show Link Icon

You can mark one link with the Show Link Icon button to display a link icon on the element in Process Viewer.

To show a link icon, select a link from the list and click Show Link Icon button.

To remove the mark, select the marked link and click Show Link Icon OFF.

Navigation in Process Viewer

This tables shows the navigation options in Process Viewer:


Option	Description
One link, no icon	Click element to navigate directly.
One link with icon	Click icon to navigate. Click an element to open the Attributes panel.
Multiple links, no icon	Click an element to open the Attributes panel with the list of links.
Multiple links with icon	Click the icon to navigate to the marked link. Click an element to access all links.

If no diagram links are defined, the section is not displayed in the Attributes panel.

You can edit text and rich text attributes in the Process Map Designer or link them to a predefined registry entry for reuse. For details, see Content translation.

The Application Navigation attribute is used to define navigation links to other applications. For details, see Application Navigation.

Rectangle, diamond and chevron element attributes

Use a rectangle, diamond or chevron element to represent steps in a high-level business process description.

A rectangle element is used to represent the business process name to navigate to, associated in the Diagram Link attribute.
A diamond element is used to represent a decision step within the process, indicating points where choices are made.
A chevron element is used in a value chain map to represent a high-level step within a sequence of process activities, highlighting the flow from one stage to the next.

Button element attributes

Use the button element to enable navigation from a process map, such as opening another diagram, drilling back into an application, or accessing related documents.

To add a button element to the canvas, drag it from the palette onto the canvas.

You can configure the button appearance in the Attributes panel and formatting toolbar:

Show or hide the label
Set label text, font, and icon
Adjust styling, including fill and border color, size (pixels), opacity, corner radius, rotation, and text alignment

You can configure the button behavior in Process Viewer:

Application Navigation (including Use as drillback, if applicable)

No links: The button is disabled.
One link: If you click the button, you go directly to the target.

Circle element attributes

Use a circle element to represent a step in a business process.

A circle shape is often used to indicate the start or end of a business process.

To add a circle element to the canvas, drag it onto the canvas.

You can configure the circle element main attributes and business attributes. The business attributes specify the element's business meaning.

Image element attributes

Use image elements to add visual context to a process map. You can combine image elements with other elements, such as rectangles, circles, and containers, to create a layered visual representation of a business process. You can also use an image on its own and link it to another diagram for navigation.

To add an image element to the canvas, drag it from the palette onto the canvas.

You can configure the image appearance in the Attributes panel:

Select an image from the predefined image libraries in the registry (Main attributes)
Add business attributes to provide business context

An administrator can upload SVG and PNG images to Image Library categories in the registry.

Use the Text element to add descriptive labels to your diagram:

Annotate or describe specific parts of a diagram.
Label connecting lines to clarify relationships between entities.
Add titles to containers for improved structure and context.

Note: Apply consistent and appropriate formatting to make diagrams easier to read and more effective at conveying information. Use the top toolbar to adjust the text formatting.

Container element attributes

Use container elements to organize related parts of a business process.

Containers group related elements, such as steps or components, into one visual area. Each step appears as a shape, such as a rectangle, diamond, or circle.

With containers, you can:

Manage related steps as a single unit
Move or edit multiple shapes at the same time

Mining KPI element attributes

Use the Mining KPI element to display a single KPI value from Process Mining on the process map canvas. The shape displays real-time, threshold-based color indicators and provides a drillback link to the Mining Insights Viewer.

Hover over the configured shape to view a status icon. Click the status icon to open a popover that displays the goal value, threshold boundary values with color-coded status icons, and a drillback link to the Mining Insights Viewer.

You can switch between Compact view and Extended view. Compact view is the default view. This view uses less space than a standard shape.

Extended view is similar in size to a task shape. This view provides a more detailed visual representation.

Prerequisites

To add and configure a mining KPI, you must have the Mining Designer role in addition to the Process Modeler role. The mining KPI element isn't accessible in the shapes palette without the Mining Designer role.

Configure a threshold in Mining before you select a widget in Modeler. Widgets without configured thresholds are not available in the selection tree.

Configuring mining KPI

To configure the mining KPI shape, proceed with these steps:

Drag the mining KPI element onto the canvas.
Go to Attributes panel > Select KPI.
The CloudSuite > Insight > Page > Widget hierarchical tree is displayed.

The tree is fetched dynamically from Mining. You can select all saved widgets that have thresholds. Widgets without thresholds are not available in the selection tree.
Select a widget.
The element is updated to show the KPI value with color-coded threshold.

Process Mining attributes:

Select KPI: Use a hierarchical tree selector: CloudSuite > Insight > Page > Widget.
Thresholds: Display threshold boundaries from Mining in read-only mode. Show Good, Warning, and Bad values.
Filters: Display active Mining filters that are applied to the KPI data in read-only mode.
