Overview of import and export options

Importing and exporting options based on role

The table below lists the import and export options available to a user based on that user's assigned security role:

Security role Import and export permissions
IPI-ModelerDesigner A user with this role can export:
  • A main folder to a PI Archive (ZIP) from Process Designer - folder context menu
  • A sub-folder to a PI Archive (ZIP) from Process Designer - folder context menu
  • A single BPMN diagram as XML (.bpmn) from the Process Designer/BPMN Modeler toolbar
  • A selection of folders and models from the Process Designer toolbar
  • All BPMN Models from a locked folder in Process Designer - folder context menu
  • Registry entries "Export to CSV" for a selected category from the Registry toolbar
A user with this role can import:
  • A sub-folder from a PI Archive (ZIP)
  • A BPMN XML (.bpmn) from the Process Designer/BPMN Modeler toolbar
  • Registry entries "Import from CSV" from the Registry toolbar

IPI-ModelerAdmin

A user with this role can import and export everything that a Designer can do. In addition, this user can import and export:
  • Translations (to and from .csv) from the Configuration/Categories toolbar
  • Custom Attribute Definitions (to and from .json) from the Configuration/Custom Attributes toolbar
  • Navigation Configuration (to and from .csv) from the Configuration/Navigation Configuration toolbar
  • Permissions (to and from .json) from the Settings/Permissions toolbar

In addition, this user can:

  • Import a main folder from a PI Archive (ZIP file) from the Process Designer toolbar
  • Import images (to and from a .ZIP file with PNG or SVG files) from the Configuration/Images toolbar or add a single image to a selected image library
