Comparing folders

You can start the folder comparison tool from the folders tree view in Process Designer by clicking the Compare Folders icon from the toolbar or using the Compare option in the folder context menu.

The tool helps you compare the contents of two local folders or compare a local folder with a standard Industry Process Catalog folder from the central storage and to identify these types of differences:

  • Folder and subfolder name and description
  • Process Maps contained in the compared folders and subfolders, compared by name
  • BPMN Models contained in the compared folders, compared by name and listing model differences including elements added/removed, element name and description changed, and layout changes

In the Compare Folders dialog box, complete these steps to generate a folder comparison report:

  1. Select a folder to compare on each side. By default, you can select a local folder to compare.
  2. You can select a folder from the standard Infor content when the Browse Infor Industry Process Catalog switch is on. You can browse and select folders from the IPCs for which you have an entitlement.
  3. Click Apply to start the comparison process for the selected folders.

The differences report is a CSV file, and it can be downloaded from the local folder that has been used in the comparison:

When you compare two folders, the content of these folders is temporarily locked for editing until the comparison report is downloaded. Icons and tooltips are used to indicate the folder status:

  • While the comparison report is running, the folder being compared shows a waiting icon in the folder tree on the left side. Its subfolders show a lock icon, and you cannot edit the folder contents while the comparison is running.
  • When the comparison is finished, the folder icon is changed to indicate that the comparison is completed. The comparison report is available for download from the folder details view by clicking Download List of Changes.
  • After you download the comparison report with the list of changes, the icons on the folder and subfolders are removed, and you can edit the folder contents again. The Download action is also removed.
Note: Folders that are already locked keep their red lock icon. Check back later to download the list of changes after the comparison is completed.
