Infor Population Health Analytics overview

Infor Population Health Analytics (IPHA) is a cloud-native system based on the batch processing platform of Infor that extracts clinical insight and detects care gaps from clinical data for analysis and reporting. You can use this system to meet regulatory reporting requirements, such as the mandate from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for electronic Clinical Quality Measure reporting.

Population Health Analytics integrates clinical data from various healthcare sources using Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) formats. Each inbound clinical data record contains multiple elements, such as patient demographics, encounters, clinical findings, and claims data. The data elements in a clinical data are securely imported from supported cloud sources, including cloud object storage systems such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3, standard FHIR stores such as AWS HealthLake, and Microsoft Azure FHIR stores. The data elements are anonymized on arrival. The anonymized data elements are then stored in a cloud-based repository with access controls and audit logging, organized as longitudinal patient charts, and sent into calculation engines for analytics. The anonymization process is in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other regulatory standards.

The platform supports FHIR R4 in both bundles and NDJSON bulk exports. The platform is designed for multi-tenant environments with dynamic scaling for diverse healthcare environments.

Data processing workflow in Population Health Analytics

Population Health Analytics processes clinical data through a series of logical steps designed to ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance.

This table shows how clinical data is processed in Population Health Analytics:
Step Description
Load Imports clinical data from multiple sources using FHIR-based integration. Supports connections to AWS S3, AWS Healthlake, Microsoft Azure, and uploads from local machines.
Anonymize Applies configurable anonymization rules to remove Protected Health Information (PHI).
Persist Stores clinical data securely in a central data repository.
Extract Extracts and persists each patient's clinical data as a longitudinal patient chart.
Calculate Automates the calculation of clinical quality measures.

Supported FHIR resources

FHIR resources are used in Population Health Analytics to calculate measures and generate results. To ensure accurate calculations, all required FHIR resources must be available to the calculation engine.
