Logging settings

To change the logging settings in ION:

  1. Select Configuration > Logging.

The Logging page contains these tabs:

    • Component

This tab displays all connection points, which are activated through activation of document flows.

    • Infrastructure

This tab displays all technical components.

  2. On the Component tab, you can change these settings for each component:
    Log level
    Specify one of these values:
    • Error

Only registers the errors in the log file

    • Warn

Registers warnings and errors in the log file.

    • Info

Registers general information, warnings, and errors in the log file.

    • Debug

Registers debug information, general information, warnings, and errors in the log file.

    Max File Size (in MB)
Specify the maximum file size on disk in MB.
    Max Backup Index
Specify the maximum number of backup files to create for this log file.
If the maximum file size is reached, a new backup file is created. If the maximum number of backup files is reached, the oldest file is overwritten.

The names of the log files are displayed, to find the files on the server.

  3. On the Infrastructure tab, you can specify similar logging settings for these components:
    General Logging
All general information that does not match the purpose of one of the other log files.
    Message Tracker
Information of the message flow through ION. In troubleshooting, this is the file to use when a message is not handled or delivered as expected. Depending on the log level you can see which messages were read, where they were delivered and what the message contents was. Do not confuse the message tracker log file and ION OneView. Use ION OneView to see whether messages are sent and where they are delivered to. The message tracker log file is more technical. Use this log file for detailed information on errors and warnings, or to collect detailed information for debugging.
    Configuration Admin
Information of updates of the configuration, such as activation and deactivation from ION Desk.
    Manage Tracker
Information on the retrieval of configuration and status data from the ION Desk manage pages.
    Error BOD Management
Information about receiving and resubmitting Error Messages.
    Event Management
    Information about Event Management.
    Workflow
Information about ION Workflow and workflow schedules.
    Pulse
