Alarms widget
You can add the Alarms widget from the Widget Catalog to your Homepage.
Use the Alarms widget to create user-defined monitors based on alarm templates from ION Desk. In an alarm, you can select a template for a business document such as a sales order, define conditions on the data in this document, and specify a distribution list for the alert created when the conditions are met.
Alarm templates are created and managed in ION Desk. A business administrator can associate alarm templates with security roles to define authorizations for each template. Alarms created by users from both the Alarms widget and the Alarms mobile application are managed in ION Desk. See the Infor ION Desk User Guide for details.
The Alarms widget shows an empty view the first time it is used. Click the plus (+) icon on the toolbar to create a new alarm. If you already created alarms for this environment from the Alarms mobile application, these alarms are shown in the Alarms widget as well.
The Alarms widget displays a list of alarms and their status. For each alarm, depending on its status, you can take actions such as start or cancel execution or view alarm details.
These features are available from the list view:
- for a string contained in the alarm name, template name, or the alert message defined in the alarm details.
- Click to request a refresh of the alarm list.
- All, Active, Draft, Completed, and Stopped. the list on the alarm status. Options are:
- Select multiple alarms that have the same status and apply a common action. For example, select multiple active alarms and stop them.
- For each alarm, you can take various actions, depending on the status of
the alarm, such as:
- an alarm definition to create a new alarm with the same details.
- active alarms.
- alarms that are not active.
- Click the alarm item in the list of alarms to open the alarm details view.
- Click the plus (+) icon in the list view toolbar to open the alarm creation wizard.
The alarm details view shows a summary of the alarm properties if an alarm has been started. For an alarm that has a Draft status, or when a new alarm is created, the alarm creation wizard is shown.
The alarm creation wizard guides you through these steps:
- Template: Search and select one of the available templates.
- Conditions: Click to select document attributes for which you want to add conditions. For each attribute selected, you must specify a comparison operator and a value according to the attribute data type. If several conditions are added, these are joined by the AND logical. The alarm is triggered when all its conditions are satisfied.
- Details: You can
edit the alarm name, and you can specify details for the alert to be created by this alarm
configuration. Specify this information:
- Name: Confirm or edit the alarm name.
- Message: Type a message for the alert to be created. Click the plus (+) icon to see the list of document attributes. If you insert one of the attribute names in the alert message, it is considered a placeholder and is replaced by the attribute value from the document at the time the alert is generated.
- Category: Optionally, provide a text string to name the category for the alert, for example: Important, Test. The category is used for filtering the list of alerts. Click the plus (+) icon to add attribute placeholders as a category.
- Show in Content: In addition to the document attributes used in the alert message, you can select more attributes to be included in the alert details.
- Lifetime: Select one of the available options to allow the alarm to run. The minimum value is 1 day and the maximum is one month, calculated from when the alarm is started. If during the alarm lifetime there is no document received that satisfies the defined condition, the alarm receives an Expired status and stops evaluating new documents.
- Send alert as email: Select this check box if the users who receive the alert created by this alarm should also receive an email notification.
- Add Users: By default, an alert is sent to the user who creates the alarm. You can edit the distribution list, and you can add and remove users or groups selected from Infor Ming.le .
- Summary: On this screen, you can see the summary of all entered alarm properties. Errors encountered in previous steps of the wizard are visible on the Summary screen. You can click any property or an error text to jump to the previous step in the wizard where this information can be edited.
To exit the alarm creation wizard, you can:
- Click Draft status. You can edit the alarm later by opening the alarm details again. and then click at any time. A new alarm is created with a

The result of alarms that receive a Completed status are alerts, similar to the alerts generated by the monitors from the Event Management module. You can see alerts in the Alert List widget or the Infor Inbox application.
Alarms are configured by business users who must monitor a specific event that must occur in a short period of time. You cannot use complex monitoring rules such as date-time check, value change, document overdue, and multiple occurrence in alarms.
To monitor a recurring or generic event or to use more complex monitoring rules, you must create a standard Event Management monitor that remains active for an indefinite period of time. See the Infor ION Desk User Guide for details about Event Management.
