Defining monitors

  1. Specify generic information for the monitor.
  2. Select the documents the monitor must evaluate.
    • To monitor data from a database when the document is not yet defined in the ION Registry. First create a database connection point and generate the document metadata.

    • To monitor data from a message queue when the document is not yet defined in the ION Registry. Add the XSDs that describe the document to the ION Registry.

    • To monitor data from a file when the document is not yet defined in the ION Registry. First create a file connection point and generate the document metadata.

  3. If you selected multiple documents, then specify references.
  4. Select document attributes.
    Note: You can select predefined attributes from the document header information.

  5. Optionally, specify filters for selected attributes.
  6. Optionally, create conditions to use in the monitoring rule.
  7. Specify the business rule that the monitor must use to evaluate incoming documents.
  8. Specify the alert message.
  9. Optionally, specify the alert due date.
  10. Specify distribution details.
  11. Optionally, specify drillbacks.
  12. Optionally, specify workflow settings.
  13. Optionally, specify escalation and reminders.
  14. Save the monitor.
    Click Save. The monitor definition is now complete. You can now activate the monitor.
