Extracting data using Flow Based extraction

You can use the Flow Based extraction to extract data based on the extraction flows provided by the IDP Service to RPA.

The extraction is based on the type of document flow selected. The document flow classifies the document types and the fields. Optionally, you can map the fields created in the RPA Manage Document Type wizard with the fields provided by the IDP Service.

  1. Select the Extract Data activity, drag and drop in the Sequence box of the Workflow panel.
  2. Click the Flow Based option in the Extract Data activity window. The Flow Based Extraction window displays the Select Flow tab, by default.
  3. Select an IDP Flow from the drop down menu, in the IDP Flow field. The Document Class for IDP Flow field displays the document type for the selected flow. This is a read-only field.
    Note: The IDP flows are constantly updated and new flows are added. The list of flows in RPA Studio are based on the IDP flows created in the IDP platform.
  4. Click Next. The Field Mappings screen is displayed.
  5. Drag the fields to be extracted, from the Flow Fields section and drop to the Selected Fields section by using the arrow option. You can also move the fields back to the Flow Fields section from the Selected Field section, if not required
  6. Click Save.
  7. Select the Use RPA Document Type check box to use the document type created in the Manage Document Type wizard. (Tools > Manage Document Type).
    Note: This step is optional. The check box must be selected only if have already created an RPA Document type that lists the fields that must be mapped to the selected IDP Flow.
  8. Select an RPA document from the RPA Document Type field.
  9. Click Next. The Fields Mapping tab displays the flow fields.
  10. Map the Document fields to the Flow Fields.
    Note: The Document Fields are the fields declared in the RPA Document type while the Flow Fields are the Fields returned by IDP.
  11. Click Save.
