Working with a list of messages
Each entry in the list has these elements:
- Icon
A different icon is used for each message type: alert, task, notification.
- ID
The ID of the current message is visible on hovering over the message row in the list, in a tooltip. The ID is unique for each ION installation and can be used to identify this activity by the administrator on the server.
- Summary message
This message shows the reason for an alert, task, or notification. For example:
- Alert: SalesOrder SO100123 was canceled
- Task: Expense Approval Request from Mary Jones
- Notification: Your expense request was approved by your manager: Tom Morris
If the summary message is long, it is truncated and displayed on one line in the list view. To view the whole message, you can hover to see a tooltip and an Expand icon. Click the icon to expand the message over several lines. The Expand icon changes to a Collapse icon. Click the Collapse icon to collapse the message. This feature is available only in desktop mode.
- Creation time
The date and time when this message was created. Only the time part is shown for the messages created today or yesterday.
- High Priority
This label is shown only for tasks with high priority and which are not escalated.
- Escalated
This label is shown only for tasks or alerts that are escalated.
- Due Date
The due date of an alert or task is shown if available, with the label DUE or OVERDUE if the due date is in the past.
- Assigned status
If a task or alert is assigned to you, a badge is shown with your initials.
The list of messages is displayed in the left side panel of the Inbox in desktop view. You can drag the vertical separator to the right to adjust the width of the list view panel as needed.
