Summary

After clicking GENERATE METADATA on the Review Objects page, the Summary page is displayed. This page shows the progress of the metadata generation process.

The page is split up into tabs, each having their own count to indicate the number of objects listed under each tab.

All Objects
The list of all objects selected to be registered in Data Catalog.
Successful
The list of objects whose metadata generation was successfully completed and stored in Data Catalog.
Action Required
The objects that need further action to let Data Catalog know what to do with them. This tab contains two lists. If any objects are listed on this tab, the Close button in the wizard remains disabled until action is taken on all of them.
Confirm Overwrite Action

This list includes the objects whose names match an existing JSON object already stored in Data Catalog. For each object, you must choose to overwrite the existing object metadata, rename the object to be unique, or skip the metadata generation for the object.

To overwrite the existing object metadata:

When hovering over a row, some icons are displayed. Click the Check icon.

Note: To overwrite all objects in this list, click the More icon at the top of the list and select Confirm All from the action menu drop-down list.

After clicking the Check icon, or choosing Confirm All, the object metadata generation proceeds. If the generation is successful, the objects are removed from the Confirm Overwrite Action list and added to the Successful list.

To rename an object:

  1. When hovering over a row, some icons are displayed. Click the Edit icon.
  2. The row should now be editable. Specify a new name for the object.
Note: The object name prefix is prepended to the new name.
  3. Click the Check icon to confirm the new name
Note: To cancel the rename action, click the Cancel icon

After clicking the Check icon, object metadata begins to generate for the object. If the generation is successful, then the object is removed from the Confirm Overwrite Action list and added to the Successful list. If the name is still not unique, the object is found in one of the Action Required lists once again.

To skip metadata generation for an object:

When hovering over a row, some icons are displayed. Click the X icon.

Note: To skip metadata generation for all objects in this list, click the More icon at the top of the list and select Skip All from the action menu drop-down list.

After clicking the X icon, or choosing Skip All, the objects are removed from the Confirm Overwrite Action list and added to the Skipped list.

Rename Objects
This list includes the objects whose names match an existing object, that is not of type JSON, already stored in Data Catalog. For each object, the user can choose to rename the object to be unique or skip the metadata generation for the object.

If the generation is successful, then the object is removed from the Rename Objects list and added to the Successful list. If the name is still not unique, the object is found in one of the Action Required lists.

To skip metadata generation for an object:

When hovering over a row, some icons are displayed. Click the X icon.

Note: To skip metadata generation for all objects in this list, click the More icon at the top of the list and select Skip All from the action menu drop-down list.

After clicking the X icon, or choosing Skip All, the objects are removed from the Rename Objects list and added to the Skipped list.

Skipped
The list of objects whose metadata generation was skipped because the object name already existed in Data Catalog.
Note: This only happens if Skip metadata generation was selected in Step 4 or if you chose to skip object metadata generation for any objects found in the Action Required tab.
Failed
The list of objects that ran into errors while generating the object metadata.
