Email Settings

Use the Email Settings section to manage how registration and password reset emails are sent and validated for users.

Types of email

There are two ways to send the email:

  • Automatic: To automatically send registration emails when new user accounts are created, select Send email to new users automatically when new users are added. This setting is applicable only when the user account is created.
  • Manual: If the automatic email option is not selected, registration emails can be sent individually:
    • When you add a new user via Manage > Users > Add new item, select Send Invitation in the Add Users dialog box.
    • The user receives an email to verify their email address and set up the account if required.

Configurable email settings

  • Expiration time for registration emails:
    • Defines the validity period for registration emails.
    • Allowed range is from 5 hours to 720 hours (30 days).
    • Default number is 168 hours (7 days).
  • Unsuccessful attempt limit:
    • Specifies the number of failed attempts before links in registration or password reset emails become invalid.
    • Allowed range is from 3 to 5 attempts.
    • Default number of attempts is 3.

Behavior on failed attempts

If you specify an email address during registration or password reset which does not match the system record, this message is shown: User account does not exist in the system. Please try again. When there are no more attempts available:

  • Account registration:
    • You are redirected to a page with this message: Please contact your administrator. The user account entered does not exist in the system.
    • You can resend the email using Manage > Users > Add new item > Send Invitation.
  • Password reset:
    • You are redirected to a page with this message: The user account entered does not exist in the system. Please re-select Forgot Password or contact your system administrator.
    • You can click Forgot Password again, or if you are an administrator, you can use Manage > Users. Then, select the user and click Action > Reset Password (by user).
