Import Users
With the Import Users feature, you can efficiently manage users accounts and their security configurations. By clicking the icon on the Users page, you can add new users. For existing users, you can edit information and permissions, or change their statuses.
Supported file formats
The import process supports CSV and XML file formats with their specific capabilities and requirements:
- CSV:
- Must include a header row.
- Use CSV UTF-8 format for special characters.
- XML: Required for assigning security roles, functional security roles, and generic properties.
Accepted import fields
These are the accepted import fields:
- required: EmailId

- First Name
- Last Name (required if First Name is provided)
- Title
- Federated Id
- Person Id
- User Name
- User Identifier
- User Alias
- Status.
- UPN (can be imported but not edited)
- Department
- User GUID
- Picture (maximum 1,024 KB)
- Mingle Picture
- Generic Property
- Security Role
- Functional Security Role
Note: Roles and properties that are not present in the system are ignored in CSV imports.
Import options
When you click the icon on the Users page, these options are shown:
- Send Invitation to New Users: Sends email invitations to newly imported users.
- Update Existing Users: Updates details or permissions for users who are already in the system.
- Activate Deleted Users: Reactivates previously deleted users (must be selected with Update Existing Users).
Note: Activate Deleted Users option is disabled, when the Create Users in Draft status is enabled.
- Deactivate Users Not Present in Import: Deactivates users who are currently in the system but who are not listed in the import file.
- Complete Replacement of Security Roles: When this checkbox is selected, all security roles assigned to the user are replaced with the security roles specified in the user's import file.
Import completion and results
After the import process, the outcome of each entry is displayed in a results window. For large files the process runs as a background job. Results are sent to the Admin Long Running Actions screen. Use the Download Results link to view detailed import outcomes.
